Wow! Another month has come and gone and with it another reading challenge .... has been accomplished! WOOT!

Yes, I did complete my March challenge from Reading Romances! Just as an overview, participants made choices from the topics of reading a book whose author either has a three-word name or carries an official middle initial. OR...

Guest Author Beth Trissel

I'm thrilled to have historical romance and paranormal romance author Beth Trissel here today and she's blogging about world building as well as giving away an ebook of her paranormal romance novel, Somewhere My Love! Take it away, Beth...

Thanks for having me on your lovely blog, Regan. In thinking about world building, I pondered sources of inspiration. Sometimes the most unlikely things evoke new ideas. The concept for my light paranormal romance 'Somewhere' series took form in the

In Praise of The Alpha Female Character

After a mostly relaxing and yet weird weekend trying to balance the writing and household details, Monday put me in the mood for an alpha female. A woman who can get things done without a lot of angst or fuss. One who can lead, and inspire others to follow.

The stand out settings of paranormal romance novels is much of the draw. Whether

World Building for the Reading Public

Two days ago, for the first time in over a year, I walked into a bookstore because my son wanted to shop. Reading that, knowing I'm a self-described "voracious" reader, you might be appalled. Or think I've been living under a rock with my fictional characters. Neither is true.

Well not entirely.

The world building for my paranormal romance novels and urban fantasy adventures has kept me quite busy. And I like spending time with my characters on a daily basis. (my family would call it
