Remember Adopted Greyhounds This Summer
In the dog days of summer don't forget your adopted greyhound is an inside dog! Our puppy loves to play fetch - usually around noon - so I've changed his schedule a bit to give him a good romp without risking his overheating. When we go out at midday, I keep it short and entice him back inside with the promise of an ice cube - his favorite treat!
Our oldest greyhound, Brody, likes to have his run in the mornings and sometimes he'll go a little wild after dinner. Either way, he always comes

I Would Rather Be World Building For Paranormal Romance Novels
So maybe I spent my Sunday on my knees rather than at the keyboard, but it was one of those home repair scenarios that just makes you grateful for professional plumbers and strong husbands. And good friends who listen without judging.

Retired Greyhound Is Storm Savvy
Boo is, ironically, the most fearful of our adopted greyhounds. Oh, she's brave enough when someone comes to the door, she greets, wags and smiles happily at new people. She's brave enough on a walk to glance at a dog and follow the leash right up to the human on the other end.
But any inkling of thunder - I'm talking a rumble so far away that human ears can't hear it - and Boo runs for her storm shelter: the half-bath downstairs.

God Worthy World Building for a Paranormal Novel
Okay, he's not paranormal romance writer, but Rick Riordan sure has perfected the art of world building for paranormal novels.
Riordan's latest young adult release, The Red Pyramid, The Kane Chronicles Book 1 came out in March, but I just got a chance to read it and I enjoyed the ride from the first word to the last!
Once again, Riordan superimposed a mythological network on the modern world (Egyptian this time) creating an unforgettable adventure that takes a brother and sister glob

Adopted Greyhound Gives Alpha Female a Boost
In the ongoing effort to redefine what it means to be the alpha female of my world, our adopted greyhound puppy Bandit has proved inordinately helpful.
Typically when Bandit goes out into the yard, he does his thing, pokes around a bit, then comes back to the door and yips for someone to come out and play with him. That someone is typically me, the alpha female of his pack (besides I’m the one who works at home)
In earlier posts I’ve told you Bandit quickly learned I couldn’t play tug when I got injured, but he refuses to let me feel too useless. On most days I can still go out and toss one of the backyard toys for him.
His favorite is the floppy yellow cowboy our foster greyhound Hank carried out one morning. (our general rule is if a toy goes outside, it stays outside, so Bandit thanks Hank for this).
Smart pup that he is, Bandit doesn’t ask me to bend over and pick up the cowboy. He simply brings it to me (for which I’m glad he’s so tall) I throw it and he brings it back. It’s fun, even when the occasional throw is rather lame, Bandit is the forgiving sort and does his best to affirm my place as alpha female of his heart.
